Emergency Drying and Generator in Wisconsin After a Pipe Break
When freezing temperatures caused a pipe break inside a commercial building in Wisconsin, water quickly spread from an upper floor through multiple levels. A local restoration contractor responded and quickly contacted Garrett McKenzie for large scale drying equipment and temporary power to stabilize the building and begin recovery.
The Situation
As temperatures dropped below freezing, a pipe break on the top floor of a Wisconsin commercial building sent water cascading through several lower levels. The extent of the damage required large capacity drying and reliable power to support restoration efforts.
Upon arrival, the restoration team identified the need for large desiccant dehumidification and contacted Garrett McKenzie for fast delivery of drying equipment and power support.
The Response
After the call came in, a Garrett McKenzie team member traveled to the site to assess conditions and determine the appropriate drying and power requirements. Shortly after the assessment, dehumidifiers, generators, and accessories were loaded and dispatched.
Crews prepared for a cold, icy job site and planned for overnight work to begin the drying process as quickly as possible.
The Execution
Upon arrival, technicians evaluated access points and selected equipment placement locations so drying ductwork could enter the building efficiently. Poly ducting was routed across four floors to reach all affected areas.
All setup work was completed in subfreezing conditions, with outdoor temperatures near 17 degrees. Despite the conditions, crews completed installation and brought the drying system online the same evening.
The Result
Technicians worked through the evening to complete duct placement and activate both dehumidifiers and the generator by midnight. The system operated continuously for nearly a week until the structure was declared dry.
Once drying was complete, only restoration crews remained on site to finish repairs. The project demonstrated Garrett McKenzie’s ability to deliver large scale restoration support even in extreme winter conditions.
